Preserving and Telling our History through Guided Tours

Discover Historic America was founded by Timothy Nealon (also the founder of Ghost City Tours), to provide the highest quality and most informational walking tours in the Country.

Founder of Discover Historic America, Tim Nealon

Timothy Nealon
Founder and CEO

Tim's journey to founding Discover Historic America Tours started back in 2011 when he moved to Savannah Georgia. A lifelong fan of researching history and ghosts led him to start Ghost City Tours. Ghost City Tours has gone on to become the most popular ghost tour company in America in 3 short years.

After 3 years of listening to our guests tell us that they wish we'd expand into historical tours, not just ghost tours, Discover Historic America Tours was founded. Right away, Tim knew that Discover Historic America had to be different. His passion for historical research and his ability to find the right people for the right jobs sets Discover Historic America apart from the pack.

When not working on Discover Historic America or Ghost City Tours, Tim finds time to develop his coding and marketing skillsets (which are put to good use here), watching Penguins hockey, and spending time with his daughters.

Gretchen Upshaw
General Manager

Gretchen discovered Discover Historic America/Ghost City Tours on her journey in creating a new life for herself in the magical city of New Orleans. She was ready for a career change and knew that she wanted to blend her professional, academic, and personal experience into the perfect job.

After just four weeks of being a tour guide, her natural tendencies to step into a leadership position, and her love for taking on new challenges, inspired her to pursue the role of General Manager for Discover Historic America Tours, which includes Ghost City Tours.

Gretchen is excited to work for a company that encompasses two of her favorite hobbies: travel and ghosts! She is also an animal lover and enjoys spending her free time with her rescue Lab, Hildie, and preparing delicious vegan dishes in an altruistic attempt to get folks to eat more plants.
